Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services paramedics treated the victims.

Smyrna officers found a car had collided with a motorcycle. The motorcycle was traveling northbound on North Lowry Street. The car was traveling southbound on North Lowry Street and turned left into the motorcycle.

The driver of the car, Darnell Horton, 18 of La Vergne, and passengers in the car were not injured.

Under the new state law, a blood sample was taken from the drivers and will be sent to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for testing.

The investigation is continuing and the case may be presented to the Rutherford County District Attorney's Office for consultation.

"Punk runs over motorcycle" is what the headline should read.

There is a reason I no longer ride motorcycles, they always lose in an accident with a car. And I am quite sure the driver of the car just didn't see the motorcyle. Calling him a "punk", just from the details of this story doesn't support that. If you know more, they say so.

Be careful Farmall the "spell checker" will get you!!( also known as Newport1 ) :o) I agree with you. Looks like there needs a little more info to make such a statement.

Sorry, but as a rider I get a little out of hand when I read about things like this. Punk may be a bit too light, I'll wait for the blood test and trial to form and opinion.

Amen, trvlace. Just another time you grit your teeth and go on... hoping to live and ride another day ! There is no abundance of courtesy around this county.

This woman that died was a single mother and a friend. What about her daughter? I am a motorcycle rider myself. I have been riding on my own for 10 yrs. My heart goes out to the families involved.

This is my sister who died in this accident. I looked up this article, I guess for answers. But there are no answers. Not here any way. She had such a happy life and had so very much to live for and in just a matter of horrible seconds she was gone. She is missed greatly by family and friends.
