La Vergne teen arrested for allegedly setting off explosive device

Authorities arrested 18-year old Jonathan Wooten in La Vergne after he allegedly set off an explosive device in the Lake Forest Subdivision Wednesday night. Kathy Tyson, spokesperson for the City of La Vergne, confirmed the suspects identity on Thursday morning.

The teen allegedly set off the explosive device after learning how to make it on YouTube. A second device was detonated by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Tennessee Highway Patrol. He was booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center early Thursday morning. He was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, violation of probation and possession of explosive components. No one was injured in the explosion.
