La Vergne Police Chief Steve Lindsay resigned Thursday, according to city officials.
"We consider Steve a friend and wish him well with his pursuits in the future," La Vergne Mayor Ronnie Erwin said.
In his resignation letter, Lindsay stated he believes the action is in the best interest of the department.
"The Police Department has had its share of controversy as of late, some of which can be attributed to my leadership," Lindsay said.
Lindsay joined the department in 1988. He became police chief in January 2003.
Lt. Ted Boyd will take over as acting police chief, effective Friday. |
