La Vergne Police have arrested two individuals on six charges of theft over $1,000 after the two apparently defrauded the Saint Thomas Foundation.
Arrested today were Pamela Cartwright, 48, of 429 Stockade Drive in Smyrna and David C. Lyle of 189 Nelson Drive in La Vergne.
Cartwright, who was an employee of SP Recycling in La Vergne, allegedly took the funds from donated materials and wrote checks to Lyle, instead of Saint Thomas, the intended recipient of the money. Lyle would then deposit the money into his account. Once the checks cleared, he would take half the money out of his account and give that half Cartwright. The total embezzled from SP Recycling was $16,618.00.
The acts occurred six times over a six month period from Nov. 2008 to mid-2009, said Lt. Kyle Norrod, of LPD's Criminal Investigation Division. The company started questioning the checks because they knew Lyle worked for another company that brought products over. |
