La Vergne makes aggravated robbery arrest

An armed robbery last week outside a La Vergne home has resulted in two Antioch men facing multiple charges.

On Dec. 5 around 8 p.m., two suspects stole the wallet and cell phone of a man at Cedar Ridge Apartments, near Interstate 24 in La Vergne. During the robbery, shots were fired and one bullet went into the victim’s home, where another adult and child were present.

Both suspects are now in custody following their arrests by the La Vergne Police Department.

“The adult is at the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office and the 15-year old is at Juvenile Detention Center,” Detective David Durham said.

D’Regis Freeman Jr., 18, has been charged with aggravated robbery, conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery, attempted criminal homicide, felony reckless endangerment, possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime, vandalism and theft.

The juvenile suspect has been charged with aggravated robbery and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery.

The safety of our citizens is something we take very seriously,” said Police Chief Mike Walker. “If you commit a crime in LaVergne, we will find you. You will be charged to the full extent of the law. We will fight to bring you to justice and to keep you off our streets.”
