LA VERGNE - There have been a rash of car burglaries in the last month in La Vergne and police are warning residents to lock their vehicles.

Since November, police report 15 cars have been broken into. While the majority of the break-ins occur at night, there have also been some morning burglaries.

“We urge residents to lock their doors anytime they are away from their car,” Officer Scott Hudgens said. “You should also remove all your valuables from your vehicle, or at least place them out of sight. We don’t want a Grinch to steal your Christmas.”

Subdivisions that have been most affected in the past month are Farmingdale and Dove Creek, McFarlin Pointe, and the Morningside area; however it could happen in any neighborhood so everyone should use caution in securing their belongings.

Items stolen include GPS devices, cell phones, laptop computers, loose change, phone chargers, and other miscellaneous items.

Police also urge neighbors to report any suspicious activity around houses or vehicles. You can reach the La Vergne Police Department at 793-7744. If it is a life-threatening emergency, call 911.
