Kerry Roberts

From the Kerry Roberts campaign:

Springfield’s Kerry Roberts is running to replace retiring Congressman Bart Gordon. If elected, Kerry will be Robertson County’s first Congressman since former Speaker of the House Jo Byrns and one of only seven Certified Public Accountants In the United States Congress.

“People are concerned about the economy and jobs. Who better to help balance a budget and reign in out-of-control spending than a Certified Public Accountant? And who better to help create jobs than a small business owner? We need fewer politicians in Washington and more accountants. I have real-world experience in balancing a budget and creating jobs. I’m also someone who will listen to your concerns. Call me anytime at 615-469-7351 or email kerry@kerryroberts.com.”

The youngest son of an educator and homemaker, Kerry grew up riding his bicycle everywhere. He soon found a job at the local bike shop, which taught him the value of hard work and a love for small business. Kerry worked his way through Lipscomb University and graduated with honors. He was hired by a national accounting firm and, later, started his own accounting practice.

In 1990, Kerry opened a bicycle store. But within 10 years, his “American dream” was shattered as the store fell on tough times. Broke and on the verge of bankruptcy, he was encouraged by a church elder to work through the difficulties. Taking on multiple jobs, Kerry demonstrated courage in the face of certain failure and avoided bankruptcy. Today, Kerry’s Bike Pedlar stores are among the largest in Tennessee.

“We’ve been through tough times but I’ve been blessed to serve as president of the National Bicycle Dealers Association, and to help hundreds of small business owners solve their financial problems by sharing those experiences.”

Married since 1987, Kerry and Dianne have three children in Robertson County public schools. The family lives in a 140-year old home outside Springfield where Kerry is a week-end farmer. Kerry served as adjunct business faculty at Lipscomb University and has been a frequent Bible class teacher. The family worships at Springfield’s Main Street church of Christ.

Kerry is a strong social and fiscal conservative and believes in the authority of the Constitution intended by our Founding Fathers. He is pro-life and supports 2nd amendment rights and traditional family values.

“I believe our country cannot solve spending problems with more spending, debt problems with more debt, and problems created by career politicians by sending more politicians to Washington. We need CPA’s and business people in Washington – not politicians – to get our economy back on track and America back to work. On August 5th, let’s elect an accountant – Kerry Roberts – in the Republican primary.”
