MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Two juvenile girls have been arrested in connection with several fires that were allegedly set on purpose in the area of Agri Park Drive on Christmas Day.

On Dec. 25, 2013, several small brush fires were set near the Apartments at Harpers Pointe, according to officials with the Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department.

“Several small brush fires were set on a property adjacent to the Apartments of Harpers Pointe,” said Ashley McDonald, public information officer of the Fire Department. “A hay bale and an abandoned barn were also set on fire.”

The juveniles appeared in Rutherford County Juvenile Court this week on charges of reckless burning. They have since been released into the custody of their parents, McDonald said.

Both girls are scheduled to appear in March for a preliminary hearing in the case.

Because the suspects are under age, their identities are not being released to the public.

Fire Department officials said more information regarding the arson case will be released as it becomes available.
