Officials with the Rutherford County Juvenile Court system will host an open house Thursday, Oct. 18, to give residents an opportunity to view the Murfreesboro facility.

The event, which is the third of its kind at the facility, will be held from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at 1710 S. Church St., according to a press release.

“Everyone in the community is invited,” said Karen Slater, a judicial assistant for Juvenile Court.

Last year, more than 200 people toured the state-of-the-art facility, including the courtrooms, as well as the Juvenile Clerk and Youth Services offices. Attendees were also given behind-the-scenes look at the Juvenile Detention Center.

The Juvenile Court system in Rutherford County has jurisdiction over both civil and delinquency cases involving children. Currently, Judge Donna Scott Davenport presides over Juvenile Court for the area.

The court provides for the wholesome moral, mental, and physical development of children as needed, in addition to offering rehabilitative services aimed at protecting public safety.
