One juvenile allegedly fired several rounds into a crowd of people, shooting two people during a disturbance about 6:24 p.m. Friday evening on Bradyville Pike, Murfreesboro Police reported.

Victim Fernando McCullough, 21, of East Compton Road and Shawniece Valentine, 33, of South Highland Avenue were treated for their injuries at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, Officer Stephen McGowan reported.

The victims were transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville but were expected to survive.

Detective Abe Vongphakdy charged a 16-year-old boy with two counts of attempted first-degree murder.

A witness told the detective she was involved in an argument that escalated into the boy shooting into the crowd with a firearm. Witnesses identified him as the shooter, the detective reported.

He was charged and booked into Rutherford County Juvenile Detention Center.

During a detention hearing, Juvenile Court Judge Donna Scott Davenport ordered the boy held in detention after deciding he is a risk to the community. He has a prior record with the court.

In another shooting, Officer Michael Levy reported victim Marcus Hardy, 27, of Jefferson Pike suffered gunshot wounds about 4 p.m. Saturday at Riviera Drive.

Hardy told Levy he got into an argument with a long-time acquaintance who left, but returned and asked, “What’s up now” before firing about three rounds at him. He was treated for his injuries at MTMC.

The acquaintance was identified to police and detectives were following up on the investigation.

Now howabout finding the adult that owned the gun and charging them? That is if the kid didn't steal it.

Seems like the PARENTS, and I use that term loosely, should also be charged with AT LEAST Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, and assisting to the commission of a felony.

Oh, I thought NRA wants everyone to have guns for freedom to pump lead into anyone who offends them...that's where we're headed...

I hate to say this canalou, if you had as much brain matter as you do harsh words for gun owners you would be a danger to society.

Canalou that is just silly.

Get the offender some shooting lessons....so he can hit what he is aiming at.

I was under the opinion that if a child broke something then the parents would be held liable.

First of all, how do we know the gun that the teenager used was his parents. Most of these kids are buying guns themselves and of course they are buying them illegally. This 16 y/o "kid" should be held responsible for the shooting and not the parents.
