Joseph Simon, of Murfreesboro, TN, died Saturday, May 17, 2014 at his home after a long fight with cancer.

A funeral mass will be held Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 10:00AM at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Father Mark Sappenfield will officiate.Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Ellen; two brothers, Thomas Simon and his wife Caroline and Edward Simon and his wife Kathy all of Florida; two step-children from his first marriage, Delynn McCash and Mark LeJong; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.After his service in the United States Air Force, Joseph became a New York City Police Officer obtaining the rank of detective and was part of the robbery unit of the 43rd Precinct in the Bronx, New York. Upon his retirement from the NYPD he became an investigator for Disney World in Florida. Joseph finally retired to Murfreesboro, TN where he was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Marian Council # 4563. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joseph’s name can be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Murfreesboro, TN; the Knights of Columbus Marian Council # 4563; the Wounded Warriors; or to Alive Hospice of Murfreesboro, TN.Visitation will be Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
