Joseph Malcolm Simpkins, age 79, of Milton, passed away on December 30, 2009 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He was a native of Davidson County but resided in Milton, TN for the past thirteen years. He was a member of the Baptist Church and served in the United States Army. He worked as an engineer at TRW for 33 years.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, John Edgar Wilson Bimbridge Simpkins and Grace Enola Wayman Simpkins; wife, Celeste Geraldine Simpkins; brothers, Elihue and Lawrence Simpkins; and sister, Mable Petty.
He is survived by his sons, Joseph Keith (Peggy Joyce) Simpkins of Canton, TX, Douglas Alan Simpkins of Milton and William Malcolm (Pamela Jean) Simpkins of Knoxville; daughters, Debra Denise Simpkins-Bauer of Nashville and Celeste Darlene (Herbert David) Brown of St. Charles, MO; brothers, David Simpkins of Tennessee Ridge, TN, Ozell Simpkins of Ashland City, TN and Jerry Simpkins of Pulaski, TN; sisters, Addie Mae Wood of Nashville, Joyce Simpkins-Duke of Nashville, TN and Gladys LeDuc of Tampa, FL; 13 grandchildren, Anna Marie Apel, Joseph Wayne Simpkins, Christopher Ray Proctor, Phillip Dwane Proctor, Michael Alan Simpkins, Malcolm Gregory Simpkins, Derek Douglas Bauer, Amanda Kate Simpkins, Sarah Beth Simpkins, Hannah Rose Simpkins, Rhoda Machelle Adams , Carla Louise Adams, Phillip Michael Adams and 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Joseph will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Chapel with Rev. Terry Frederick officiating.
