Last week, we got a taste of local football with the jamboree. This week, our high school teams took the field to kick-off what could be a very interesting season.
LaVergne did not capitalize on their average performance in the Jamboree. The Wolverines lost to an average Antioch Bear team 20-12. Looking at their future schedule this was a mini-disaster.
Siegel, on the road like most teams this week, rolled up over 500 yards of offense and made an absolutely scary statement with a dominating 53 -7 win over Franklin. WOW!
Riverdale did much the same by destroying Brighton again. This time the score was 42-19. The Warriors are for real again.
MTCS fell hard to Nashville Christian again, with a final score of 41-6. The Cougars have football problems that can only be solved by more players and talent. The coaching, support and facilities are in place.
For the second year in a row, Battle Ground Academy beat Smyrna. The Bulldogs are a very young team and the schedule is murderous. This 23-7 loss was very damaging.
A strong Arlington team that made the playoffs in 2011 whipped Oakland 31-28. Fear not, the Patriots will be fine.
The Westmoreland Eagles upset our Eagleville Eagles 20-14, but I believe Eagleville will be fine too.
That clever Blackman coach, Philip Shawowens, unleashed everything he withheld in last week's Jamboree and beat a good Independence team 20-7. Very impressive!
We could be in for one dominating season from our local teams. |
