In the semifinals of the county middle school tournament, the Stewarts Creek girls played superb early behind 19 points from Brinae Alexander and 14 from Morgan McCrary to beat Blackman 46–29. The Flames got 14 points from Ja’Leah Goff and 11 from Jaida Bond.
In the other semifinal girls game, Christiana, the No. 1 seed, led by only one after three quarters but made some defensive adjustments and fought off a stubborn Oakland Charger squad 45–29. Alexis Whittington had 16 and sister Amanda had 11, while post girl Sydney Gibson led Oakland with 10 and guard Kayce Howard had nine.
In boys semifinal action Oakland played well and held off a fine Christiana team 48–41. For Oakland, Marcus Hardy had 17 Jaden Jamison had 13. For Christiana, Lontavious Wilson had 13, and Jarek Campbell and Timothy Goodrich both had eight.
Also in boys semifinal action, No. 1 seed Whitworth-Buchanan had six players score in the first quarter, and the Yellow Jackets stung Siegel early before the Cavaliers roared back. Siegel could get no closer than eight as Buchanan won 66-48.
Buchanan was led by A.J.Pollard with 16, C.J. Murray with 15 and Michael Scruggs with 12. For Siegel, Marcellis Martin had a great night with 22, while Ryan Hill had 15 and Riley Davis eight.
In girls third-place place action, Blackman, behind Ja’Leah Goff’s 17 points and Jaida Bond’s nine, beat Oakland 50–43. Sydney Gibson scored 13 for Oakland, while Kayce Howard and Kaici Bivens each had 10.
In the third-place boys game, Siegel played well and beat Christiana 46–25. Marcellis Martin had 15 for the Cavaliers, while Ryan Hill had 12 and Riley Davis 11. Christiana got seven each from Shaun Morrow and Isaiah Benson.
In the girls final, both teams played hard but Christiana (21–0) finally beat Stewarts Creek 39-33 in front of a big crowd. Morgan McCrary had 14 and Briane Alexander had 12 for the Red Hawks, while Brylee Puckett led a balanced scoring attack with 10 for the Cougars.
In the boys final, Oakland got a revenge win and beat No. 1 seed Whitworth-Buchanan 37–35 in the final seconds. C. J. Murray led the Yellow Jackets with 14, while Oakland’s Brandon Thomas had a game high 20. This was Oakland coach Brad Decker’s third championship in six years.

In girls it’s a tie between Brinae Alexander of Stewarts Creek and Alexis Whittington of Christiana. In boys it’s Marcellis Martin of Siegel.
After a one day weather delay, our girl’s teams got off to a great start in the Sectional Tournament at Harris Middle in Shelbyville.
The Blackman girls, behind 20 from Jaida Bond, got by Richview 50–31.
The Stewarts Creek girls got 15 from Alexander and 12 from Morgan McCrary to beat a good Mt. Juliet team 43–38.
County Champion Christiana (22–0) beat Kenwood 51–23. Alexis Whittington led the way with 19 while Amanda Whittington tallied 10.
Rutherford County boy’s teams followed with a good night of their own as Whitworth-Buchanan, behind 11 from C. J. Murray and eight from Michael Scruggs, beat a solid West Wilson team 42–40.
Christiana followed that up with a come from behind 45–42 win over a very good Mt. Juliet team. Jakek Campbell had 11, while Trevin White and Timothy Goodrich both had 11 for the Cougars.
In the nightcap, league tournament champion Oakland pounded Rossview 56–37. Brandon Thomas led the way with 16, while Keishawn Davidson had 13 and DreLitker had 13.
