Johnny Lester Titshaw Sr.



Johnny Lester Titshaw, Sr., age 76, of Murfreesboro, passed away on January 6, 2010 at Community Care of Rutherford County.

He was a native of Gwinnett County, Georgia then moved to Murfreesboro in the early 60's and was owner and operator of Central Service Appliance Repair. He retired in 1978 to Gulf Shores, Alabama. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Diver and Demolition Team which later became the Navy Seals. He started the diving team for the Rutherford County Rescue Squad. He was a Scout Master for Troop 106 for many years.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, John Lester Titshaw and Sarah OmaLee Frazier Titshaw Davis; wife, Dorothy Hope Johnson Titshaw and sisters, Bernice Mulder, Ann Owen, and Kathy Hickerson. He is survived by his daughters, Janice Earp of Murfreesboro, Alice (Bill) Brooks of Murfreesboro , and Debbie (Kerry) Thorpe; son, Johnny (Susan) Titshaw of Lascassas; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A chapel service for Johnny will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Rev. John Robert Carroll officiating. Interment will follow in Foley, Alabama beside his wife. Visitation with the family will be from noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Jennings and Ayers.
