John Edwin Beard, age 55, of Murfreesboro, died Sunday after a lengthy illness at his home surrounded by family.

He was born Oct. 16, 1957, in Memphis. Mr. Beard was employed by Quality Industries of LaVergne.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Beard was preceded in death by his mother Mary Hagar Beard.

He is survived by his wife Teresa Beard; a daughter Elizabeth Beard and a son James Beard both of Murfreesboro; father James Beard of Smyrna; two sisters Barbara Beard Nelson and her husband Ron and Charlotte Beard Aalberg, all of Chattanooga; a brother David Beard of Murfreesboro; a grandson Landon and several nieces and nephews. .

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 pm at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
