John Carl Comer, age 84 of Murfreesboro, passed away Wednesday February 24, 2010 at his residence. John Carl was a native of Wilson County and lived most of his life on Rutherford County. He retired from the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center as an Occupational Therapist Aid and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He was also a member of Heborn Church of Christ. After retirement, he spent his time caning chairs, fishing and gardening.

John Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Charley Duget and Willie May Rollins Comer; one brother, Sam Comer; and sister Katherine Comer Perdue. He is survived by his wife, Lola Dorothy Comer of Murfreesboro, TN; son, Charles William (Faye) Comer of Dandridge, TN; daughter, Carolyn Elaine (O.T.) Comer Haynes of Lebanon, TN; two brothers, Paul (Shirley) Comer of Lascassas, TN and James Ray (Jackie) Comer of Murfreesboro, TN; three sisters, Dot Comer Daugherty of Delaware, Gussie Comer Swain of Murfreesboro, TN and Sarah Jane Comer Chaussee of Murfreesboro, TN; Five grandchildren, Jimmy (Belinda) Haynes, Linda Haynes Hart, Matt (Amy) Comer , Andy Comer and Adam Smith; and four great-grandchildren, Hunter, Will, Cheyenne and Joshua.

A graveside service for John Carl will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2010 at Coleman Cemetery with Bud Mitchell officiating. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as active pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Jennings & Ayers, 820 S. Church St, Murfreesboro, TN. 37130
