John Barbee (D) County property assessor

– Rutherford County Property Assessor John Barbee announces he will seek a second term.

“I have over 21 years of experience in appraising and assessing property,” Barbee said. “I Believe my knowledge and experience qualify me to do this job.”

When Barbee was elected in 2004, there were 84,000 parcels of land valued at $12 billion in Rutherford County. Currently there are 106,000 parcels of land valued at $16 billion.

“I enjoy this job and its challenges. I’m proud to say we added only two employees to help with growth. I’m fortunate to have an excellent staff,” Barbee said.

Barbee worked seven years as a commercial appraiser for the Rutherford County Property Assessor’s office before being elected to lead the office. He is a past president of the Middle Tennessee Chapter of the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers and holds a Master Assessor Certificate from the Tennessee State Board of Equalization and a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser’s certificate. Barbee has been a licensed real estate broker since 1982 and a licensed auctioneer since 1985.

“I would appreciate everybody’s vote and support,” Barbee said.
