| Jerry Jenkins, age 60, of Murfreesboro, passed away June 9, 2011 at home surrounded by family and friends after a two-year battle with cancer.
He was a lifelong resident of the Leanna Community in Rutherford County. Jerry was a Deacon of Beulah Land Baptist Church. He graduated from Walter Hill School in 1969 and was an avid horseman. You could often find him riding his horse, Shane, down Leanna Road. Jerry loved the outdoors and was retired from Evergreen Cemetery.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Mutt” Jenkins and Sue Mary Hunter Jenkins; and grandchild, Rebecca Gambill. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary Helen Russell Jenkins; daughter, Brenda (Ronnie) Gambill; son, Donald “Bubba” (Bobbie) Jenkins; brother, Perry (Shirley) Jenkins; five grandchildren, Jerry and Jessie Gambill, Cindy, Ryan and Shelby Jenkins and one great-grandchild, Annabella Parsley. He is also survived by his uncles, Howard (Fay) Hunter, Gary “Bubba” (Pat) Hunter and aunt, Jane (Lynn) Sloan.
Chapel service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Ken Armstrong and Ken Elkins officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery with family serving as active pallbearers.
