James Gregory “Greg” Garvin, age 62, of Murfreesboro, passed away on June 25, 2012 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. He was a native of Rutherford County but lived in Homestead, Florida where he served in the United States Air Force as Master Sergeant for 25 years before retiring to Murfreesboro. Greg was a member of the Baptist faith.
Greg was preceded in death by his father, James Kelton Garvin and daughter, Holly Garvin. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Rebecca “Becky” Lawrence Garvin of Murfreesboro; mother, Mildred Doris Winfield of Montgomery, AL; son, John Travis Garvin of Murfreesboro; daughter, Heather Elizabeth (Jamie) Curtis of Murfreesboro; brother, Furman Keith Garvin of Montgomery, AL; sister, Barbara Ann Garvin of Montgomery, AL; one grandchild, John Parker McCarter; and many more relatives and friends.
A chapel service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home with Steve Goforth officiating. Burial will follow at Milton Cemetery with family and friends serving as active pallbearers.
