James Buford Waldron, age 96, formerly of Smyrna, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at Grace Health Care in Franklin, Tenn.

He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late George Everett and Pearl Austin Waldron. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary B Mullins Waldron, who died in 1997.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at Woodfin Funeral Chapel in Smyrna. Bro. Wayne Cornwell will officiate. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery.

He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Waldron Strickland, of Franklin; two sisters Pauline Breslin, of California, and Bess Clopton, of Nashville; grandchildren David Strickland and his wife, Kathy, Daniel Strickland and his wife, Amy, Dara Strickland and her fiancé, Seth Hicks; and great-grandchildren J.D. Strickland, Jake Strickland, Mary Elizabeth Strickland, Alice Strickland, and Aidan Strickland.

Nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Waldron was a member of Highland Heights Church of Christ and retired from Avco. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at Woodfin Funeral Chapel in Smyrna.
