Murfreesboro authorities are continuing their investigation into what led up to a shooting that occurred Friday night near Middle Tennessee State University.
One person was injured and another arrested just after 9 p.m. when a shooting broke out near the intersection of Middle Tennessee Boulevard and East Main Street, according to officials with the Murfreesboro Police Department
"Around 9:15 p.m., officers responded to the 1400 block of East Main Street in reference to a shooting," said Sgt. Kyle Evans, public information officer for the Police Department. "One subject was shot and transported to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital with a serious, but not life-threatening, injury."
Police said Friday that the injured person was expected to be taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Since then, officials have not released additional information as to whether the person is expected to make a full recovery.
More information regarding the case will likely be released some time this week.
