Authorities are continuing their investigation into what led up to the Monday shooting that resulted in a boy being injured by stray bullets as he sat in the living room of an east Murfreesboro home.

The 12-year-old boy received minor injuries when a shooting broke out at about 3:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Wingate Street, according to a Murfreesboro Police Department incident report.

The shooting took place only 30 minutes after police responded to reports that shots had been fired near Rogers Park, which is located at 1115 Hunt St. At the time, officers did not find any evidence of a shooting.

Given the circumstances, detectives are now trying to determine whether the two shootings could be related.

Police are urging anyone with information about either incident to call Crime Stoppers at 615-893-7867.
