In the city council race, Mayor Tommy Bragg and Councilmen David Edwards, Shane McFarland and Doug Young have picked up their paperwork intending to run for reelection.

Hopefuls Bill Jakes, Glen Craig, Brian Vaughn, William S. Tocco and Mark Nobles picked up paperwork to become candidates

On the city school board front, Chairwoman Mary Wade is the only incumbent to file.

Board members Ray Butrum and David Hopper are also up for reelection, but haven’t filed yet. Neither could be reached for comment.

Local Kevin Fisher had filed his intent to challenge the incumbents in the open election for a seat on the school board.

The qualifying deadline for the races is Jan. 21 with the election to be held April 20, 2010.
