Middle Tennessee struggled with inconsistency on Wednesday during its ninth practice of the spring according to Head Coach Rick Stockstill.
"I thought Monday's practice was better than today's," added Stockstill. "We were very inconsistent at just about every position on offense. Defensively, I thought we were not as good as we have been. I didn't think we tackled as well or got off blocks as well as we've been doing in earlier practices this spring. I think we took a step backwards today compared to what we had accomplished the last couple days."
Stockstill saw a lot of positives following the team's first scrimmage on Saturday and then was really pleased with the way the team came back on Monday. The Monday practice was crisp, had a good tempo, and the players were focused. The Blue Raiders did not have that same sharpness on Wednesday.
"I thought there was a lot of progress from Saturday to Monday but then we slipped from Monday to Wednesday," said Stockstill. "I thought Monday was a really, really good practice, but you can't win the way we practiced today. I thought it was very average. Nobody really got better today."
The Blue Raiders will resume spring drills on Thursday with their 10th of 15 scheduled practices. The spring season will conclude on April 18 with the annual Blue-White Scrimmage at Floyd Stadium. |
