Aggravated rape and kidnapping charges were filed against a former boyfriend accused of holding a Nashville woman against her will and raping her, sheriff's deputies reported.
Esgardo Pinto-Torres, 29, of Nashville was charged after an investigation Saturday. He is being held for federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers.
Deputy Lisa Svitak reported she met with the 39-year-old woman at StoneCrest Medical Center in Smyrna. The woman reported she dated Pinto for eight months until she learned he had a wife in Mexico and broke up with him.
To came to her home Saturday and asked her to drive him to his cousin's house. Instead, he ordered her to drive to Jefferson Pike near Smyrna where he pulled out a kitchen knife with a 12-inch blade and ordered her to pull off the road, Svitak reported.
He forced her out of the car and into a wooded area where he removed her clothes and sexually assaulted her, the deputy reported. She told her she did not want to have sex with him.
Because she feared for her life, the woman told Svitak she didn't struggle with him any more. Afterward, he threatened to kill her but she persuaded him she would not tell police.
Pinto-Torres ordered her to drive to a store where he apparently took $70 from her purse to buy beer. He took her car keys and cellular telephone when he went into the store. They drove to a restaurant in Nashville where the woman told someone she had been raped.
The woman was treated at StoneCrest for a mark on her neck, a scrape on her left elbow, a swollen and red left eye, scratches on her back and a cut on her hand.
Detective Mark Di Nardo located Pinto-Torres and questioned him before charging the suspect. He is
being held on $100,000 bond at Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. A hearing is set Oct. 6 in General Sessions Court.
