Husband threatens to burn wife: sheriff's office | Domestic violence

Alfred Minor
A 56-year-old is held on charges of attempted first-degree murder and false imprisonment following a 90-minute Sunday domestic incident in which the suspect beat, tied his wife up and threatened to set her on fire.

Alfred D. Minor, 2435 Braxton Bragg Drive, is being held in lieu of $22,500 awaiting a May 5 preliminary hearing in General Sessions Court.

After Minor’s 62-year-old wife called their 20 year-old-son to the scene, the younger man dialed 911 at about 10 Sunday morning.

When deputies arrived, they found the argument began about 8:40 a.m. Minor demanded a work uniform and didn’t like the answer, his wife said.

Other matters arose and Minor reportedly began beating the woman about the head and shoulders.

He then bound her legs together, but released her when she begged him to, the victim said,

Minor then cut her braided hair off with a knife and shaved the rest of her hair off with clippers, the victim reported.

Minor then grabbed a bottle of alcohol and matches and threatened to pour the flammable liquid on her and set her afire, she said.

The victim was able to call her son, who in turn called for help when he arrived and saw what was occurring.

Deputies arrested Minor on the scene and called Detective D.J. Jackson to the scene to begin an investigation.

That investigation resulted in the charges above being filed at about 5 Sunday night.

The victim at first refused ambulance care, but collapsed and fell a short while later and was transported to Middle Tennessee Medical Center.
