According to WGNS, Palmer Smith has been sentenced to one year in jail on charges connected to the 2007 disappearance of his wife, Marcie.

He was found guilty in April of two counts of tampering with evidence and six counts of filing false statements with police.

"Mr. Smith was ordered to pay $619.00 to the Murfreesboro Police Department and $2,800 to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation," Smith's attorney Libbi Snider said.

The 73-year-old Smith is the husband of the 69-year-old woman, Marcie Smith, who was reported missing on December 7, 2007.

Authorities contend Smith hasn’t been telling the truth about what really happened to his wife.

After Marcie Smith's disappearance, surveillance video from the Wal-Mart parking lot on Rutherford Boulevard shows her Lincoln Navigator being parked there on the day she was reported missing. It also shows a person remove a bicycle from the rear of the vehicle and ride away.

Technology enabled authorities to locate her missing cell phone on a farm south of Murfreesboro.
