Husband indicted for kidnapping domestic violence worker

A husband accused of assaulting his wife and kidnapping a domestic violence worker was indicted on multiple charges by the Rutherford County grand jury during its November term.

William Irwin Jr., 40, of 211 Ashmont Lane was accused of assaulting his wife, Lanena.

While the wife sought help at the Domestic Violence office, Irwin jumped into his wife’s car and allegedly kidnapped domestic violence worker Druecilla Jimenez Aug. 18 from the Memorial Boulevard office, Murfreesboro Police Detective Tannas Knox reported. Jimenez convinced Irwin to release her unharmed physically.

Grand jurors indicted him on charges of domestic assault, four counts of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a prohibited weapon, aggravated stalking, violation of a protective order, attempted aggravated kidnapping, theft of his wife’s car and reckless endangerment with a motor vehicle.

In another case, defendant Christopher Ridgeway, 26, of La Vergne, was indicted for first-degree murder.

Sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Mark Di Nardo accused Ridgeway of stabbing Lanny Travis June 29 on J.D. Todd Road.

Another set of indictments charge Samuel Jenkins, 34, of Brinkley Road with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated arson and violation of a protective order.

Jenkins was accused of setting fire to Doug and Kimra Merritt’s home in La Vergne
with the Merritts, Sydney Jenkins and her two children, ages 5 and 3 days old, inside, La Vergne Police Detective Kyle Norrod reported.

Defendant Dominic G. Lyons, 20, of Nashville, was indicted on charges of three counts of attempted first-degree murder and especially aggravated robbery and possession of a weapon.

Murfreesboro Detective James Abbott accused Lyons of trying to kill Daley Thompson, Damien Kuzina, 21, and Thomas Johnson, 22, of Smyrna, during a shooting April 29 on Leaf Avenue.

In another case, defendant Christopher N. Dudiak, 18, of Panther Creek Road in Christiana was indicted for especially aggravated robbery.

Dudiak was accused of striking a man with a baseball bat in the side of his head, leg and foot and robbing him of his wallet Aug. 20 on South Church Street, Murfreesboro Police reported in an arrest warrant.

In sexual assault cases, John W. Turner, 49, of Crusade Drive was charged with criminal exposure to the Human Immunodeficiency Virus.

Sheriff’s Detective D.J. Jackson accused Turner of having sexual relations with a woman, knowing he was infected with HIV. She found numerous prescriptions and brochures about HIV in his home and confronted him, but Turner denied having HIV.

Medical tests showed he was positive for HIV, Jackson reported.

Thomas “Trevor” Gilbert, 30, of Rock Springs Road near Smyrna was charged with six counts of aggravated statutory rape.

Smyrna Police Detective Angela Istvanditsch reported Gilbert allegedly had sexual relations with a 17-year-old girl on several occasions from Aug. 24 to September 2007.l

In an unrelated case, defendant Emad Kadhim Azraki, 46, of 813 Naylor Ave. was indicted on a rape charge.

The victim went to Azraki’s apartment complex May 28 searching for a room to rent but while there, Azraki allegedly forced her into a bedroom and raped her, Murfreesboro Police Detective Paul Mongold reported.

Defendant Lestin Y. Motino, 26, of East State Street was charged with soliciting sexual exploitation of a minor, statutory rape and rape of a 17-year-old girl, Murfreesboro Detective Wayne Lawson reported.

Defendants will receive copies of their indictments Monday from Circuit Court Judge David Bragg on the fourth floor of the Judicial Building.
