The Knaughty Knitter, a tradition on Walnut Street, has moved to new digs, the shop announced last week.
The new store at 202 B N. Thompson Lane is more centrally located and in a much needed bigger space, according to a press release.

Launched with intentions of building “a fiber community” in October 2005, Knaughty Knitter has more than accomplished this in the past six years by providing yarn, needles, looms, spinning wheels, supplies and many accessories.

“We have traditionally provided both beginning and advanced classes in the many creative traditions of the fiber arts. It was sad to leave the little yellow house, but we just needed more space,” says Meredith Kermicle, the business owner.

“At the little house the yarn was overflowing the shelves and baskets. Now you can actually see what is there. And there is more room for classes too.”

Along with the location, The Knaughty Knitter’s hours have also changed to be open 7 days a week.  The shop is now open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 1-4 p.m. Sunday.

For more information call the store at 615-217-4966 or visit the website at knaughtyknitter.typepad.com.

Old-fashioned barbershop opens in Murfreesboro

Roosters Men’s Grooming Center opened its doors last week in Murfreesboro to provide an old-fashioned barbershop experienced coupled with upscale grooming services to local boys and men.

Located at 451 N. Thompson Lane next door to SmashBurger, Roosters MGC is a national franchise owned by Nashville resident Bob Jackson. According to a press release, Jackson is a former master franchisee of 57 stores in Tennessee and Georgia that provided business products in the computer industry.

“While I’ve enjoyed a successful career in technology sales, I was seeking a different business model which Roosters provides,” Jackson explained. “I was immediately drawn to the modern yet ‘old style’ barbershop with marble sinks and rich, dark cherry wood barber stations.”

Customers are invited to relax in oversized leather barber chairs and select from a variety of custom services including precision haircuts and shaves with hot steam towels, deep cleansing facial massages and moisturizing lotions.

Jackson invites the public to attend Roosters’ official ribbon cutting assisted by the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 12.

During the celebration, refreshments, prize drawings and demonstrations of Roosters’ services will be provided by the store’s experienced master hair care specialists.

Roosters MGC is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
