‘Tis the season for car shopping, and now local residents have another option.
City Auto opened its doors behind Red Lobster on Bridge Avenue just two weeks ago. It will eventually hold 250 pre-owned vehicles, according to salesman Randall Price.
He said the company’s original location is in Memphis and has grown to become the second-largest used car retailer in the United States.
“We like the area, and we needed to be closer to the middle of the state,” Price said. “A lot of our business comes out of the Nashville area… It was a logical choice (because) of the demographics of the area and wanting to be closer to Nashville.”
City Auto offers its customers pre-owned vehicles of all makes and models.
“If it has four weels, we’ll sell it,” Price continued. “We don’t do motorcycles or boats, but we do buy a lot of vehicles off the street. That’s a big deal to us. We like to buy local vehicles.”
He added that in Memphis, City Auto consistently out-bid Carmax on their cars.
“We’re a very good buyer, and that’s one of our strong parts,” Price said. “We retail a lot of cars, we have a big appetite for cars, and that makes us a big buyer for cars.”

The Rutherford County Planning Department is now accepting online comments from local residents.
Planning Director Doug Demosi explained how the subject arose during the Planning Commission’s Dec. 12 meeting “to get as many comments into the process as possible.”
The county’s planning staff receives an e-mail notification each time a comment is added to the website, and those comments will be compiled and reported back to the Planning Commission, Demosi said.
Residents can still e-mail, call, fax, visit the office in person and mail comments, but Demosi says this online avenue provides an additional option for local input.
For more information or to leave a comment for the department, visit rutherfordcountytn.gov.
