How do you get to 'Roo?

How do you get to Roo?

So it is now officially Bonnaroo Eve. I’ve had friends calling me, and the excitement is building. Like any other event, you have to make travel plans so we’ve been talking about each of our distinctive paths to the festival and when we are going to meet.

For me, I will be going down tomorrow in my truck and will camp for the weekend. My brother’s girlfriend is flying in from California tonight for the journey too. I have a couple of friends who are traveling to Knoxville tonight for the Phish show then on to Bonnaroo. Others are coming and staying overnight in parking lots or wherever they find a home.

As you can see, some may get there by car; some may even fly in for the festival. There will be people taking RVs and others may take the path of old – hitch-hiking.

But the native Kentucky artist, Ben Sollee will take the high road through Kentucky and Tennessee on his bike to perform this weekend. And with his cello!

Now that’s a trip and a cool concept.

He is doing it in an effort with Oxfam America, a group the helps fight poverty and hunger.

If you’re in the McMinnville area tonight, then support him at Capalano’s downtown before he stops in Manchester.

And let us know how you are getting there too!

Sollee’s tour route is below.

June 4 Frankfort, KY Kentucky Coffee Tree Café
June 5 Danville, KY Danville Community Arts Center
June 6 Berea, KY Berea Coffee and Tea
June 7 Somerset, KY Carnegie Arts Center
June 8 Albany, KY Clinton county Public Library
June 9 Cookeville, TN Backdoor Playhouse at TN Tech
June 10 McMinnville, TN Capalano’s
June 11-14 Manchester, TN Bonnaroo
