Fire killed one Rutherford County resident while two other residents escaped a burning house early Sunday on Rehobath Road in the southern part of the county, said Sheriff Robert Arnold.
Information about the victim is not being released until family members are notified, he said.
Rutherford County Sheriff’s Detective Randy Groce said Sheriff’s deputies and volunteer firefighters from Almaville and Rutherford County Fire and Rescue responded to the call about 12:30 a.m. where they found the body of the resident, the detective said. College Grove Volunteer Fire Department provided water.
Fire destroyed the house. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Groce, Assistant Fire Marshal Carl Peas of Murfreesboro Fire Department and sheriff’s Deputy Trey Nunley, who is chief of Lascassas Fire Department.
