Ryan Harring, Republican primary candidate for the 48th District of the Tennessee House of Representatives, signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge on Friday committing to oppose any effort that increases taxes on individuals and businesses.

“Federal, state, and local taxes make up close to 50 percent of the average national income,” Harring said. “That means if you and your spouse both work, one of you is working for the government and the other is working for your family. This is unacceptable and I will fight to lower all taxation at the state level to ease the burden on Tennessee families.”

The Taxpayer Protection Pledge is the flagship project of Americans for Tax Reform, an organization first sponsored the pledge in 1986. Since 1986, hundreds of U.S. representatives, more than 50 U.S. senators and every successful Republican presidential candidate have all signed.

To date, Harring’s opponent state Rep. Joe Carr has not signed the pledge.

Harring has been a resident of Rutherford County for more than 20 years. He runs a successful small business with his wife, Heather, of five years, and they have two children. Harring is running on a platform to restore prosperity in Tennessee by bringing ethics, conservatism and responsibility back into office.
