The community has scheduled some egg-cellent events for Easter this year.

The city of Murfreesboro, Oaklands Historic House Museum and the Sam Davis Home have all scheduled their annual bunny-related activities.

Palm Sunday at First Baptist

Internationally acclaimed artist Samuel Marshall Gore, art professor emeritus at Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss., will be featured in the Palm Sunday services from 9-11:15 a.m. April 1 at Murfreesboro’s First Baptist Church.

During the services at First Baptist Church, Gore will sculpt the Head of Christ with Crown of Thorns, perhaps his most famous work.

The community is invited, regardless of church or denominational affiliation, to share in this unique time of worshipping through the power and majesty of music and art.

Oaklands Easter Egg Hunt

Come celebrate Easter with an egg hunt on the lawn of Oaklands Historic House Museum at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 1. The event offers youngsters a sweet opportunity to hunt for eggs filled with prizes and candy.

Bring a basket for this old-fashioned egg hunt, which takes place on Oaklands lawn. When it’s time for the hunt to begin, the children are set free to run around and find as many eggs as they can, and they get to keep the goodies within.

Admission is $1 per child for the egg hunt. After the egg hunt, stay for games on the lawn, coloring, story time or a tour of the mansion at 3 p.m. for a special price of $5 for adults and free for children under 12.  Parking will be in the Roberts Street lot with check-in at the pavilion.

Oaklands Historic House Museum is located at 900 N. Maney Ave. For more information, call 615-893-0022 or visit oaklandsmuseum.org.

Underwater Egg Hunt

Who said eggs are always hidden behind cabbage leaves? Eggs will be floating above and below the surface of the water for children ages, 2 to 9 years, to hunt at Murfreesboro’s Underwater Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31, in the indoor pool at Patterson Park Community Center, located at 521 Mercury Blvd.

This unique egg hunt caters to children of all swimming abilities. The cost is $3 per child.  For registration and information, call the Aquatics Department at 615-893-7439.

Citywide Easter Egg Hunt

Murfreesboro Parks and recreation holds its annual Citywide Easter Egg Hunt at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 7, in Richard Siegel Park.

Activities will include age-appropriate egg hunts all afternoon, carnival games and a final visit by the Easter Bunny before he fills the baskets on Sunday. Swap eggs for prizes at the “eggs-change” booth.

The event is free and open to all ages. Richard Siegel Park is located at 515 Cherry Lane in Murfreesboro.

Easter Eggstravaganza

Hop on over to the Sam Davis Home for the 12th annual Easter Eggstravaganza from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, April 7.

Three egg hunts are scheduled for the morning activities: children younger than 3 hunt at 10:30 a.m., ages 4 to 6 hunt at 11 a.m., and ages 7 to 10 hunt at 11:30 a.m.

Guided tours of the historic home will be offered every hour on the hour for a reduced price.

Bring your Easter basket and don’t forget to wear your best bonnet or handsome hat for this year’s Easter Eggstravaganza.

Admission is only $5 per vehicle. Easter Eggstravaganza is a weather dependent event.
