As schools across Middle Tennessee open this week, students will be coming home with backpacks full of new homework challenges.

Beginning Monday, August 15, students in need of homework support will be able to call Homework Hotline.

Nashville area students call 298-6636. Other middle Tennessee students or parents can call toll free, thanks to Sonic Drive Ins, by dialing 888-868-5777.

Hotline provides free one-on-one tutoring for students from 4-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday for 30 middle Tennessee counties, including Rutherford.

Homework Hotline speaks five languages: Spanish, Arabic, Swahili, English, and Kurdish.

“We have the new textbooks and we have great teachers, and it's all free because of our generous sponsors,” said Elise Burns, assistant director
Homework Hotline.

With Homework Hotline, students tackle new concepts, complete challenging assignments, and gain academic skills.

Since 1990, Hotline teachers and volunteers have provided more than 415,000 sessions of tutoring.
