A Murfreesboro man was arrested Saturday, June 26, after an incident at Chef Wang’s restaurant on N.W. Broad Street in Murfreesboro.

Meng Wang, manager of the restaurant, contacted police concerning an “unwanted customer.” Wang noted a gold-colored truck with a white, male driver as the person causing the disturbance.

Wang informed officers Timothy Lane Battle is a regular at the restaurant who the waitresses have alleged stalks them. Wang also said Battle walks around with a handgun on his hip, exposed to the other customers.

Battle told police that he did not have a valid carry permit for his weapon. When asked if he had any weapons on him at the time Battle revealed a gun, which officers removed at the time.

Police also uncovered two knives, one which was a switchblade. Battle told police that he had no other weapons and officers received consent to search the vehicle.

Upon searching Battle’s vehicle, officers discovered multiple weapons and a possible explosive device. A Homeland Security officer responded to the scene in reference to the explosive device, which was taken to Tennessee Bureau of Investigation headquarters for further examination.

Battle was read his rights and taken into custody on suspicion of reckless endangerment, seven counts of prohibited weapons, six counts of unlawful carrying or possession of a weapon and possession of a firearm where alcohol is served.
