Hollis Dayton Potts, age 80, of Murfreesboro, passed away on Dec. 11, 2012, at Boulevard Terrace Nursing Home.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Rutherford County. Hollis was a member of the Baptist Church and a farmer.
Hollis was preceded in death by his parents, William Ellis Potts and Lillie Rowland Potts; wife, Alice Doris Potts; son, Samuel Dayton Potts. Hollis was the last of 17 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his sons, David Bruce Potts of Rockvale, Carey Joseph Potts of Smithland, KY and Wendell Craig Potts of Murfreesboro; daughters, Wanda Johns of Murfreesboro, Pam Burns of Murfreesboro and Teresa Riley of Murfreesboro; eighteen grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Chapel service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Rev. Murray Mathis officiating. Burial will follow at Mapleview Cemetery with family and friends serving as active pallbearers.
