Holcomb to serve as Exchange celebrity waiter

Former NFL and MTSU quarterback Kelly Holcomb is the latest addition to the Celebrity Waiters Dinner being planned for Thursday, April 8, by the Evening Exchange Club of Murfreesboro.

Holcomb, a native of Fayetteville, retired from the NFL in 2008. He and his family reside in Murfreesboro, where he works as Color Commentator on the Blue Raider Network for MTSU.

Other names added to the server list, according to Gibson, include Dr. Sidney McPhee, president of MTSU, MTSU Men’s Basketball coach Kermit Davis and Murfreesboro Police Chief Glenn Chrisman. Servers previously announced include: MTSU Athletic Director Chris Massaro, MTSU Women’s Basketball Coach Rick Insell, and Mayors Tommy Bragg (City of Murfreesboro) and Ernest Burgess (Rutherford County).

The event will be held at the DoubleTree Hotel with a poolside reception beginning at 6 p.m. followed by the dinner at 7 p.m. A circus theme, Under the Big Top, will be featured for the evening with clowns, magicians, and live animals provided by Exchangite Bill Boner, county property assessor.

Proceeds from the dinner will go to support the Exchange Club Family Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect. The Center, located on Heritage Park Drive, served 1,673 clients in Rutherford County in 2008/09. Of this number 930 were successful graduates of parent education classes.

The Exchange Club Family Center is one of over 100 Centers in the country, operating under the auspices of The National Exchange Club. The Murfreesboro Center is a satellite of the Family Center in Nashville. Other centers in Tennessee are located in Memphis, Jackson, and Livingston.
