Cody West dove into the end zone on a daring fourth down try to give Riverdale an exciting 13-10 win in overtime over archrival Oakland in a classic Battle of the Boro on a wet Friday night.

After a 7-7 tie at the end of regulation time, the two rivals faced overtime where each had suffered their only loss previously.

After Oakland took a 10-7 lead on Trevor Hornsby's 32-yard field goal on the Patriots' overtime possession, Riverdale moved close quickly as Rodney Parker plowed out a gain of four and West five.

On third down the Pats stopped a running play inches from pay dirt, setting up the critical fourth down.

Foregoing a tying field goal try, Riverdale left the ball in West's hands and he dove into the end zone to end the hard-hitting contest.

Riverdale is now 4-1 and 2-0 in District 7AAA. Oakland is 3-2 and 1-1.

Oakland broke the scoreless tie early in the second quarter when T. Mayberry broke loose on a 44-yard scamper for six with 7:44 left.

Just before halftime Oakland stymied a long Riverdale drive when Darius Coffee stopped West short of the goal line on fourth down.

Riverdale opened the third quarter with an impressive sustained drive, ending with Adam Davenport's one-yard scoring run with 4:56 left in the period.

Oakland mounted a drive in the fourth quarter, penetrating to the Riverdale 28, but a penalty forced a punt.

The Warriors then mounted their own drive with less than two minutes left with a long pass from West to Dylan Goins setting up an unsuccessful field goal attempt by Grayson Powell from 52 yards out.
