High school football results: Blackman still unbeaten | High school football

Oakland quaterback Christian Adams receives the snap during their contest against neighbor and rival Siegel Firday night. Oakland blanked the Stars 20-0. TMP/Chad Mason
DeShawn Smith returned a punt 68 yards midway through the first quarter to give Blackman the winning points in a 10-2 decision over Smyrna Friday night on the Blaze home field.

Blackman advances to 3-0 on the year and has still not surrendered a point on defense. Smyrna's points came when Deon Meadows blasted through to nail a Blaze runner in the end zone early in the first quarter after the Bulldogs had pinned Blackman deep in its own territory.

The Blaze has scored 94 points in their first two wins but faced an equally tough defense from Smyrna in the first meeting between the two schools since former Bulldog coach Phillip Shadowens, who directed Smyrna to back-to-back state championships two years ago, took the Blaze top position earlier this year.

Oakland blanked neighbor and rival Siegel, 20-0, while Riverdale powered past La Vergne in the first night of district play in Class 6A. Oakland and Riverdale are both 2-1.

Two winless area teams in Class 1A posted their first wins at home as Eagleville hammered Community, 41-0, and Middle Tennessee Christian School rolled past Moore County, 30-7.

I'll say it again. The officiating is getting worse and it almost cost Blackman a hard fought win. I understood the need to keep tempers in check but at least try to make it fair. When you use the "unnecessary roughness" call it should be equal as it was apparent both sides were quilty at times but the officials did not even try to make it fair. Their were at least 2 hits out of bounds by Smyrna that the officials just plain ignored. The inequity is what causes trouble.
