| High school football: Five area teams in playoffs |

The three Class 6A Rutherford County powerhouses advanced to the TSSAA football playoffs along with both Class 1A teams as the high school sports organization released its brackets Saturday morning.
District 7AAA champion Blackman and runner-up Riverdale will play home games Friday in the opening round of the playoffs while Oakland travels to Mt. Juliet in the Class 6A championship run.
Blackman, 9-1, is host to McGavock, 6-4, while Riverdale, 8-2, entertains Coffee County, 3-7 and Oakland, 8-2, travels to Mt. Juliet, 9-1.
All three Rutherford teams are ranked in the top 10 in the state by various polls.
All playoff games start at 7 p.m.
In Class A Eagleville will host Monterey Friday while Middle Tennessee Christian School reeives a bye in the first round.
TSSAA released the brackets for the controversial first-year playoff system online Saturday morning but took them down due to errors.
At the last posting, believed correct for games involving Rutherford teams, the playoff schedule showed.

#6 Monterey (5-5) at 4 Eagleville (3-7)
#2 MTCS bye (Will play winner of #3 Gordonsville (6-4) #6 Lookout Valley (7-3), Nov. 13)
