Murphy Fair has edited and published the bible of Tennessee prep football, “Tennessee High School Football Preview,” since 1988. This year’s edition is available at Agee’s Sporting Goods on Mercury Boulevard and Hastings on Memorial Boulevard at $10 a copy.
“The Guru’s Great Ones,” 12 of the top college prospects in the state, are featured on the cover. Among them are Oakland lineman Tim McAdoo and Siegel receiver Marc Gooch.
Fair recently spent two and a half weeks driving 3,300 miles to deliver the thousands and thousands of book copies across the long state of Tennessee, visiting some 150 high school coaches along the way.
Although he tried having the publication shipped, he returned to personal delivery.
“I like to drive. Tennessee is such an awesome state. I’ve been in all 95 counties multiple times, and I never get tired of the scenery or the people,” he says.
Fair also produces a Web site, www.murphyfair.com, to keep fans up to date through the season. Membership is only $15 a year.
