After the wintry weather last night, Middle Tennessee should get a break with highs reaching into the mid-50s by Sunday, the National Weather Service predicts.
Thursday’s snow closed schools across the state and left up to an inch on doorsteps in Rutherford County, according to the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network (CoCoRAaHS).
CoCoRAaHS data collected by volunteers show up to an inch of snow fell yesterday in central and southern Rutherford County with northern sections getting closer to half an inch.
Before the snow started falling, the county also got from half an inch to 2 inches of rain throughout the day yesterday.
Freezing temperatures last night combined with the precipitation made for slick road conditions this morning.
The major thoroughfares were mostly clear, if not a little wet, this morning. But a partly cloudy sky and high in the low 40s, should clear things by the afternoon.
Tonight should see a low around 26 and a mostly clear sky.
Saturday should be mostly sunny, with a high near 49. Saturday Night is expected to be partly cloudy, with a low around 37.
Sunday warms even more with a partly sunny sky and a high near 56.
But then another front should move in the evening, bringing with it a slight chance of rain and a low around 45.
