Herbert Davis “Bud” Young, Jr., age 76 of Murfreesboro died Friday February 7, 2014. He was a native of Murfreesboro and was the son of the late Herbert Davis Young, Sr. and Woodie Sanders Young. He was also preceded in death by sister, Jean Young Moseley.

Mr. Young is survived by his wife, Peggy Patton Young; two sons, Davis Young and his wife Lissa, and their children, Ellis and Ben Young of Nashville; Brad Young and his wife Caroline, and their children,Sanders, Rowan, and Wesley Young of Murfreesboro; brother-in-law, Martin Moseley of Murfreesboro.

Funeral service will be 3:00PM Monday at First United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro. Rev. Michael O’Bannon will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00PM until 3:00PM prior to the service.

Mr. Young was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a 1956 graduate of Murfreesboro Central High School and president of his class. He received his BA Degree from Vanderbilt University in 1960. He was member and president of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity his senior year. He was commissioned in the United States Army Air Defense Artillery. Mr. Young returned to Murfreesboro in 1962 to join his father in the family business, Murfreesboro Pure Milk Company until his death. Mr. Young served on the boards of Murfreesboro Bank and Trust Company, the Union Planters Community Board in Nashville, Rutherford Hospital and the Christy-Houston Foundation. Affectionately known by friends as “Buttermilk Bud”, he enjoyed family and time on the water.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, the Charity Circle of Murfreesboro, and First United Methodist Church of Murfreesboro in memory of Mr. Young. Woodfin Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. 615-893-5151 www.woodfinchapel.com
