The National Weather Service warned of heavy rainfall expected across the midstate through Friday.

A weak cold front, along with an upper-level low-pressure system, will remain near Middle Tennessee, including Rutherford County, through Friday. With deep tropical moisture also remaining in place across the midstate numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected off and on through Friday with rainfall becoming heavy at times.

Total rainfall amounts across Middle Tennessee by Saturday are expected to reach 2 inches to 4 inches east of the Interstate 65 corridor and 3 inches to 5 inches west of I-65.

With the recent drought conditions across the region this heavy rainfall is not expected to result in widespread flash flooding.

However localized flash flooding will be possible especially Thursday and Thursday night when the heaviest rainfall is expected.
