Rutherford County’s Health and Education Committee meets tonight to reconsider proposed middle schools for the Buchanan and Oakland areas.
The committee meets at 5:30 p.m. tonight in room 205 of the Historic Courthouse.
Earlier this month the Rutherford County Commission denied a request from the county school board to continue with the projects after bids for the Buchanan school came in about 10 percent less than expected.
Last week bids for the Oakland middle school came in even less than the one accepted for Buchanan.
The commission denied the request in a 10-11 vote that hinged on projections requiring a property tax increase to fund the on-going expense of running the schools. |
