The 1,500 U.S. flags and accessories for the organization’s “Healing Field – Flags of Remembrance” have arrived, announced Rebecca Talley, president of the Murfreesboro Noon Exchange Club. The “Healing Field – Flags of Remembrance” is scheduled for Memorial Day weekend.

“This is about America healing the wounds of its darkest days. This patriotic event; a spiritual event for the volunteers who help set it up and for everyone who comes to experience it for themselves,” Talley said. An opening ceremony will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with the playing of “America The Beautiful”. The “Fallen Soldier Motorcycle” will be on display Saturday only.

The field will be open each day from 10:30 to dusk. There is no admission charge so a great family outing to teach children the real meaning of Memorial Day. There will be a closing ceremony about 6:30 p.m. Memorial Day with the playing of “Amazing Grace” on a bagpipe, the reading of the names of Tennesseans who have lost their life in the war on terrorism, and the playing of “Taps” will close the field.

Imagine a sea of red, white and blue, hundreds of American flags standing 8’ tall in perfect rows and columns across a field of green. The visual effect will be one of infinity. Now imagine the number of heroes from our community who have sacrificed for the cause of freedom.

That number becomes real and tangible when you see this breathtaking display. The “Healing Field – Flags of Remembrance” will be located on Medical Center Parkway next to The Avenue, Belk side.

Organizers are planning a breathtaking display of hundreds of flags to honor or in memory of our heroes – military, law enforcement, fire fighters or even a personal hero. Individuals and businesses can sponsor a flag for $30, which includes taking home the flag following the event. Proceeds from this patriotic event will go toward The Murfreesboro Noon Exchange Club Projects of Americanism, Youth Activity, Community Service and it local project The Prevention of Child Abuse through the Rutherford County Exchange Club Family Center.

Organizers at the national headquarters for the Colonial Flag Foundation, Healing Field programs are honored to work with the leaders from Murfreesboro Noon Exchange Club as they bring this amazing and healing experience to the community as everyone unites for a greater purpose. The Colonial Flag Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit charity that oversees and administrated a network of patriotic and awareness programs and fundraiser.

Thanks Mike, yes Medical Center at Maplegrove which is the street going into The Avenue at the Belk Store side ( Exit 76 off I-24 ).
Look for the flags after 10:00 AM and a tall flag pole.

Thanks to all who have been thanking the Murfreesboro Noon Exchange Club for doing this. That was the response the group wanted.
