Guy D. Alexander Jr., 74, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012 at Woodbury Health Care Center from complications from a stroke.
Alexander is survived by son Guy D. (Bo) Alexander III and daughter Shelly Smotherman Alexander of Murfreesboro; sisters Joy Scott & Pauline Witty, both of Woodbury and one other sister; niece Teresa Scott Stetzel and two other nieces; nephews Mark & Steve Scott and one other nephew; beloved canine companion Cocoa; and numerous other cousins, friends and colleagues.
He was preceded in death by his “Darling Bride,” Julie Wilsey Alexander, and his parents, Guy Alexander Sr. and Mary E. Davenport Alexander.
A member of the Baptist Church, he was a veteran of Tennessee Army National Guard from 1960–1967, a retired homebuilder and rental property owner.
Visitation with the family will be 4–9 p.m. Tuesday and the funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday. Bro. Bratten Tucker and Bro. Derrell O’Neal will officiate. Interment will be at Reed Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tommy, Steve & Michael Bell, Steve & Mark Scott, Lytle Tenpenny. Carlton Shirley, Bob Stoetzel, A.C. Bell, Jr. & Leland Schwamberger will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers donations, may be made to St . Jude Children’s Hospital, in care of Woodbury Funeral Home. |
