Rutherford County Sheriff candidate Jeff Griswold has withdrawn from the race.

Griswold, the chief of security with Imperial Security Services, announced his decision Wednesday morning after fellow challenger Robert Arnold gained the support of the Hendon-McClanahan Lodge No. 54 of the Fraternal Order of Police in Murfreesboro.

"I've been looking over the issues and Mr. Arnold and I have a lot of the same ideas and concerns," Griswold said.

Arnold is running against long-time Rutherford County Sheriff Truman Jones.

Early voting for the Aug. 5 County General and State and National Primary Elections begins Friday, July 16 at locations around the county.

No doubt a back room deal was made... Isn't that what everyone is complaining about??? And oh yes the Sheriff sued the county for adequate funding to do the job everyone's mad about that too... Didn't Mr. Arnold sue the county and the Sheriff's Office??? So if I have it right its not a change everyone is complaining about because Mr. Arnold will do the same. Bring in his group of former employees that had to leave for these scandals you all are hearing about. That with his lack of experience to supervise anything and promises to bring all these so called much needed units back where's the funding going to come from for that??? Can you SAY LAWSUIT!!! and raising YOUR TAXES!!! Dress it up, Spin it anyway you want, Robert Arnold is not the answer. Change just for the sake of change in this case would be DISASTROUS!!!

It's time for Jones and his corrupt good-ole boy network to get the shoe-leather express.

Let's DUMP Truman Jones.

I think Truman Jones has been trying to weed the corrupt out of the SO for years. Now those former employees are polishing up their halos and crying "foul". Of the two other candidates, Arnold is the one I would have expected to drop out. No experience, no platform. Griswold looks good on paper but he lacks in the ethics and integrity area.

Gris, you done wrong or you would still be at the sheriff's department. But I like you..
Coming here from another state, I greatly admire Sheriff Jones and his honesty. Rutherford County is blessed to have a man who takes his job seriously, but doesn't take himself too seriously. I've seen him and his officers help victims time after time with no fanfare or publicity.
Now,I've got to go, in time to eat some homemade ice cream with our brave sheriff this hot afternoon...
